Whether you like it or not the culotte is back. If Hollywood’s golden girl Jennifer Lawrence, pop’s hottest starlet Rita Ora and super model turned actress Mila Jovovich are doing it, it means it’s in.

At Couture Fashion Week numerous fashion editors and lovies were strutting along culotted up to the max and the trend was spotted on the runways of Marni, Etro and Rag and Bone.

Though the thought of culottes reminds me slightly of my childhood Brownie uniform (not my finest fashion moment) this effortlessly chic silhouette is perfect for just about any occasion and they are surprisingly easy to wear. Imagine the benefits of a midi skirt with the added bonus of free movement and a sure-fire guarantee of no gust-of-wind Marilyn moments. If you are worried about how to style them just treat culottes as you would a midi skirt. The more accessible versions are of the floaty and not form-fitting, which you can wear now with sandals and a simple tee, and as we move into Autumn with a knee high boot and chunky jumper for a more retro look. Tailored options are great for the office, with a blazer and blouse, or take your culottes out on the town with a killer stiletto and slinky blouse. Short versions make a great alternative for those not quite ready to go the whole hog a la Miss Ora.
