Johanne Bertaux-Strenna

Costume Designer

Johanne is a highly skilled Costume Maker, Bridal Seamstress and Alterations Specialist. Currently working in the Costume Performance Support department at the Royal Opera House running wardrobe for the Mens’ Corps De Ballet, for Anastasia, Chroma Triple Bill and Nutcracker.

Trained in Costume Design and Making at the London College of Fashion and Central Saint Martins, she obtained a BA in Costume for Performance in 2010, after successfully completing her Foundation in Art and Design in 2007. Johanne then went on to work as a Costume Design Assistant and Costume Designer, for three years, mainly in London, on projects which include bespoke wedding dress making for a 1920s “Great Gatsby” themed event in Italy, costume making for Running Wild at Regents’ Park Open Air Theatre, costume care for the Costume Performance Support department at the Royal Opera House, costume assisting and alterations for the Almeida Theatre – Richard III, Boy Medea – as well as Fittings for Harrods and Selfridges.
