When it comes to hats, we at BangTidyStyling are huge fans. As well as totally changing or creating a look, they hide a bad hair day and keep your head warm on frosty mornings (sometimes even we like to be practical!).
This Autumn/Winter we have seen three main contenders for the hat crown.
The Beanie: It’s functional, can be picked up really cheaply and there are a huge variety around. Wear it slouchy a la Emma Stone or upright for a 90s vibe as seen on bezzies Cara and Ri Ri. A bright colour or pattern adds a pop to a dull winter day, neutral colours are easy to wear, or go for an embellished beanie to add a feminine edge to a traditionally masculine look.

Victoria Beckham sent huge over sized beanies down the runway, but our fave high street picks are from Pull and Bear and River Island.

The Seventies Floppy Hat: It’s just not going to go away and with celebs such as Rachel McAdams, Nicole Richie and Kate Moss making it look so good, it’s no surprise why. The floppy hat will add a little boho cool to your look.

There are lots of great floppy hats around on the high street right now.

The Fedora: Adds some authority to your outfit. Pair with a girly dress or coat for a strong feminine vibe. Mary-Kate Olsen knows how to work the look for the red carpet and preppy princess Ms Chung pairs hers with a Burberry trench.
Paul Smith have a good selection as do Topshop.

Whatever headgear makes you happy this season be sure it fits well. Running across the road after your hat is stolen by a gust of wind is not such a good look. Amazon.co.uk do great hat adjusting pads you can add in for the perfect fit.
